Boutique Resort
Captured along the the western Salto hills above Lake Garda, this former 17th Century Monastery is the site of a remarkably stylish boutique hotel removed from the tourist clutter of Verona high above the sometimes summer-packed shores of the central lakes region. The hotel majestically set in the middle of a vast agricultural region with 20-acres of olive groves, flower fields and mature fruit tress that guests can meander amongst during the warmer summer months. The lobby is lined in natural stone walls with period details to offset the repetitive look of 12 club chairs gathered around a central coffee table. A dramatic dining room is contained within a pitched-arch capella that is nothing short of heavenly, with adjacent lounge with wood paneled bar cast in more discriminating decor. Outside, an oversize pool overlooks the nearby lake best enjoyed from the upscale sun loungers or nearby terrace for outdoor dining ala white tablecloth.
The Room
A total of 18 guest rooms are contained within the reconfigured monastery quarters with exposed hand-painted walls and occasionally graying fresco that creates a remarkably refined backdrop for thoroughly modern, sometimes forgettable furnishings. Terracotta floors accent natural wood windows and exposed beam ceiling that compensate for the sometimes less-than-lux feel of some of the furniture like veneer-wood side tables and very simple seating areas. Bathrooms are lined in white tiles in lieu of marble with double basin sinks and deep soaking tubs or rain shower.
